This article explains how to troubleshoot problems related to ID scanning during the equipment check process.
Recommendation #
If you’re having trouble with ID scanning during the equipment check, try these recommendations:
- Upload a good-quality picture of the ID.
- Take a picture of the front of the ID where your photo and personal information are displayed.
- Ensure the document is positioned horizontally.
- Make sure the text is not flipped (mirrored). If your camera flips pictures, consider uploading a photo instead.
- Use your laptop’s camera to take a picture of your ID – If you’re using a laptop, utilize its built-in camera to capture an image of your ID. This can be a quick and effective way to get a clear image.
- Take a photo of your ID using your mobile phone – Another option is to use your mobile phone’s camera to take a photo of your ID. Once you have the picture, you can easily upload it to your computer for the equipment check.
- Handling IDs with two pictures – If your ID has two pictures, cover one and try taking a picture. Alternatively, crop the small image if uploading a picture.
- Capture a clear ID picture – If you’re having trouble capturing a clear ID picture, try taking a photo of yourself holding the ID, making sure your face is visible in the picture.
- Take a picture of your ID in front of a blank piece of paper behind it during the ID check.
- Take a picture of your ID with the back camera of your phone, then open the photo from your camera roll and ensure that your brightness is turned up. Then place the phone to your webcam to take a picture at the ID check.
- Try taking a photo of a different ID or uploading a different ID.
Best Practices and Tips #
- If none of these solutions work, you may want to consider using an external camera or another laptop.
- You should use your personal device to take the test because work-provided devices may have security settings that restrict access to the test. Without the administrator’s permission, it is impossible to change the security settings and allow the website to access your camera.
- We suggest temporarily disabling any antivirus software that might be interfering with the screen share functionality. This can help eliminate any potential conflicts and allow the exam to proceed smoothly.
